Client MFC Application

Print Post Print Post
I have recently tried getting into the multiplayer game via the internet and have been unsuccessful. Seems everytime I try to join a room I get this error: "Disconnected: Some game resources are missing".

I've downloaded everything I've read about downloading which I need and have even let avp2.exe have full access from my firewall. I can see the rooms for internet play, but I cannot join any of them.

Also, just about every time I've gotten on the game has crashed and given me this warning: "Client MFC application has stopped working".

What should I do?

If you see a message of resources missing or resources differ, it means that you and the server are running different things. They can either be running a mod you don't have, or that they aren't running a mod that you are running. Also, if your game isn't patched to 1.0.9.6, you won't be able to join any servers and will get a resources differ error.

Make sure your firewall also grants full access to "gslist.exe." I couldn't join any servers until I gave gslist full access.

Try joining with your firewall off. If you're able to join, you'll know if its a firewall issue or not.

@ x-M-x: Yes, I am running 1.5.1 and this has been happening for about a week. I've not played online in months and I tried getting on the first time and no internet rooms showed up at all.

@KingKenny: I'll have to try allowing full access to gslist.exe. I've already given full access to avp2serv.exe and lithtech.exe.

Thanks for the information! I'll see if it works and inform you on the results.

I allowed access to gslist.exe, but I am still unable to join any multiplayer games. I have now gotten 2 new error messages.

Disconnected: Some game resources differ from the server

&

Unable to join the multiplayer game.

Any ideas on what I can do to figure out why I am unable to join and what resources could be missing?  Huh

1: Did you do a Full Install of (Master 1.5.1) or an upgrade from another version.

2: What Operating system do you use ??

3: 32-bit or 64-bit Operating system

4: What security you have  firewall/anti-virus,

These problems moslty happen because its firewall related, but it could be something else this time.

1: I'm not sure, but I know it was 1.5.1 -- It is a zip file: 2010_02_24_1.3_to_1.5.1

2: Windows Vista Ultimate

3: 32-bit

4: McAfee. I have given full access to the files which I've read are needed, but still I am unable to join a room. Also, even in single player mode as an Alien, I cannot use my night vision, the screen is black.

Would you recommend that I uninstall and reinstall the game?

Well, I reinstalled the game and downloaded all the items from AVP2 Master Section again and now I am not able to get into the game at all. Now I am receiving this error:

ERROR - Could not launch LITHTECH.EXE. Please make sure that AVP2 is installed properly.

When I checked my McAfee to see if the program was allowed full access it just said "Program does not exist".

Well it could be the fact that AVP2 is NOT installed properly. Try again and make sure the location is the C Drive.

It's installing into the C drive, and I have no idea what to do if it doesn't work this time.

Still cannot find the LITHTECH.exe file. I'm about ready to call it quits.

The Default Location should be

C:\Program Files\Fox\Aliens vs. Predator 2

You didn't have this lithtech.exe error before. So I'm thinking something went wrong with the installation.

The lithtech.exe should be in C:/Program Files/Fox/Aliens vs Predator 2/

Once you're in that folder. I suggest right clicking in an empty space in the folder, and highlight "Arrange Icons By>>>>Type." This well help you, as it will organize all the exe files together.

If you don't see the lithtech.exe. That means it's missing and you need it to play AvP2. So reinstall the game one last time. I know its a hassle, but you had it before and now you don't. That doesn't make sense.

On a fresh install, install the official 1.0.9.6 update; then install the 1.5.1 master server patch and you should be good to go.

Also, some Vista users have stated that they have trouble installing with UAC on. So if you encounter problems, turn UAC off while installing.

You'll get AvP2 working, just keep at it.
