Hosted server doesn't appear in list

Okay, so I'm not sure where to start, so we'll start here:

I can play the game just fine, and in fact joined the Unknown server earlier today.  I plan on doing so again.

I can't host a server, though.  I can launch it, and it appears to be running fine, but it doesn't appear in the server list and thus I can't join it.

I have Windows 7, if that helps.  Let me know what other information you need.

Your firewall might be preventing it from appearing on the server.

Or possibly a blocked port?

I'm pretty sure I opened all the right ports and allowed the stuff through my firewall.  However, settings may have been reset.  Can you tell me which ports I need to open?

Default port for an avp2 server is 27888,

Make sure you allow access to the glist.exe aswel.

TCP port, right?

Okay, allowed that program and opened the port.  Still no luck so far.

hmmm, turn ya firewall off and try and host and see if you can see it then ?

***ALSO***

it's not advisable to host a server from home, unless your connection can back it up, you could probs run 8 max players but i doubt 16 tho,

Good connection bruce?

and this might be a router firewall not a software firewall issue.

Okay, I'm at a friend's house, let me try it from here and see if it's software firewall or not.

I do have a good connection at home, shouldn't have any trouble running a decent server.

Tried it at my friend's and tried it with the firewall completely down.  Still no luck.  Hrm.  I wonder what the issue is?

Only other thing I can think of is making sure you're running all the updates and the master server patch.

Bruce, also make sure 'glist.exe' has access aswell that could be the reason.

I made sure glist.exe has access.

As far as I know, I'm running all the updates.  I'm not sure which version of the Master Server patch I have, though.  I think it's 1.2.3, but I'm not sure.

Should I update?

The game version is 1.0.9.6.  No worries there.

Also, I saw on the UMPPARTY server that they're running some maps that I don't have.  I have UMP and updater through V4... what else do I need?  I want to have everything.  I want to be able to go into that server or any other and play.

Finally, I made a mod for Primal Hunt a long time ago called "Gods of War."  I think I might try that again here, if I can remember how to do it.  Basically, no fall damage for humans and Predators, increase speed and jumping distance (Aliens could damn near fly), changed some weapon properties and all kinds of stuff.  It was pretty cool.  A power-up across the board.

The master server patch should be 1.5.2. The download for it is on the main page here.

If there are still difficulties hosting, you might want to recheck your router.

If it is the router, what do I do with it?

Well if you're running all the updates and the patch, then it's just an issue of something blocking the server from getting internet access/making a connection.

If you try the server with the firewall off and it still doesn't show up on the server list, the router is probably still not configured for the server. Could be that a port is still blocked.

I'm just trying to narrow it down to what's causing it not to show up correctly. Other than that, I don't know.

Okay, I'm gonna try allowing everything related to AVP.  I updated today, but I wish there was somewhere I could check my SMS version.  The update installed the Bunny's server stuff, so I was hoping I could run it.  But when I go to host a server, I don't have any additional options or anything.

Anyway, I'll allow everything, see if that helps, then I'll try running it again when I have the firewall down.  Otherwise, I'm not using the right bit, I suppose.
