So are custom maps gonna be in MS or not?

JP Moria is great,if we judge screenshots.Map would be better if marines would be changed to humans,elves and dwarfs and sniper changed to bow,pulse to sword,shotgun to axes.And drone changed to orcs,predaliens to trolls and praetorians to balrogs.

Depends, the original idea was never to include the maps except PH ones.... this was years ago though. (but then more maps was going to be added causes a few problems blah blah)

No one would be crying about it if the maps was never introduced in the first place.

Looks good, but what your saying is 'modding the game now' and if that's the case that is never going in the msp patch i simply will not allow that. (and i think everyone would agree on that)

That's when things get out of control.


The idea is awesome, shame the map is EVAC only would be nice to see it on TDM  but adding swords etc? your talking about modding the game. (thats a whole new ballgame)

I just said my opinion and I know you cant out that into msp patch.And creating mod like this is just too "heavy".I mean new models for characters and weapons + bunch of animations for that,we need 50 modders for that,but you must admit that playing mod like that on this map would be great.

But the msp will never have custom skins custom mods custom sounds

NO CHANCE IN HELL.


2.1 was pulled not just because of the maps you know there was custom sounds in there too....

I was really hoping we could get more brand new maps. UMP2 maps are an option if we cannot get enough but new ones do have priority. There obviously is not much room as they add up to the size quite fast, so we can only accept the best of the best. The patch is also a sign of professionalism so maps must follow some strict criteria.

- Maps must have acceptable framerates for both clients and servers. suk-hadleyshope is borderline acceptable but suk-stronghold_2 is not.
- Maps should have a realistic atmosphere i.e. look somewhat plausible. Maps like dm_gcmc.klitter are not acceptable.
- Maps must have all essential objects such as pickups and spawn points. 16 spawn points for DM and 32 for team maps is preferred.
- Maps should not rely too much on gimmicks that are annoying or add nothing to the idea of the map.
- Maps must have no game breaking problems such as holes or alien proof areas.
- A map can only apply one time, e.g. evac\suk-hadleyshope or dm\suk-hadleyshope but not both.

I'll keep a list of maps that are nominated for selection on my website. This is just a quick list for now. More will be added later.

I have to agree on this. Fixes and content is one thing but changing appearance and gameplay is where I draw the line.

Voted for Only the best maps (that have balanced gameplay). Balance is a huge deal in my eyes. Even tho I enjoy playing at fun maps aswell. Seems the lists are starting to form up. I'll be checking em once in a while and stay in the shadows unless I have something to say..

I think either way its going to wind up as only the best maps (not only good) as there wont be 100s of maps added. Probably around the 20-30 range (max).

So it's just a matter of balance/fun factor really. Votes seem split among the two.

Btw, I think it might be a good idea to eliminate maps that use custom textures/sounds. This way we can pack more dats (maps) in without the file size getting too out of control.
