AVP2 freezes after 5 seconcs

Hey guys, recently googled AVP2, checked some servers, decided to try to install in with MSP2.2 see if it will work.
The thing is, it installed just fine, patched it into 1.0.9.6, installed multimaps pack and such, MSP2.2, I can run the game just fine really, Main Menu works like a charm, switched to my best resolution, I can even join multiplayer servers(at least I tried to see if it works, some of the ppl played there just now) but everytime i want to play single/multi, Intro videos will play okey, but the game will freeze after 5 seconds of the actual gameplay, means moving with WASD and with mouse, and I have no idea why...   I have a notebook with Integrated and Dedicated GPU 555M Nvidia, so if anyone knows how to fix, I'll be glad because me and my 2 friends wanna hop in again, thx

Edit: I set Compatibility to ME/98 on both AVP2.exe and Lithtech.exe, unplugged the external monitor im using, played it on my notebook 1280*720*32 res, tuned down the sound settings, set graphics quality to medium and I managed to get thru the first three missions as a Marine, killed a few bugs and so on, I don't know if it won't freeze my PC again, but it's something at least

this issue is simply hardware related
if you google a bit you'll notice this gfx card is just shit
in order to fix this issue you  might wanna roll back driver or just update  driver as he could be using stock drivers from when have purchased the laptop.

I can not give you help speaking of MS you have decided to install  believe me it's a long & obscure story.

but meanwhile I can get you 2 questions.

1 you using the original disks, or you have a pirated copy?
2 which os you have / what language is installed??

about resolution  give a look here:
http://www.avpunknown.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1272905528

i give you a tip set a max resolution
1024 x 768 at 32 bit max detail
after put this command
for example:
++ScreenWidth 1280 ++ScreenHeight 720

for a modern resolution of 1280 x 720

I have two legit old discs, no primal hunt, just the originals,  windows 7 64x, English copy, english 1.0.9.6 patch, I was able to get hour thru campaing yesterday, but it again froze, I mean I wouldn't mind getting the process killed and start it again, but it freezes my entire PC and only way to shut it down is the hard way, so it's a definitely a stuck loop in a kernel or something which my notebook is unable to handle

Sounds like GPU drives to me. (whole desktop freezes?)

Use CCLEANER clean out any unwanted crap. and search for new GPU drivers.

Yes, sometimes I manage to get into Task Manager, but the lithtech.exe is not killable and I cannot end it, it looks like a zombie process to me, I removed my driver via DDU and had a clean installation like a week ako, but i just managed to get 90 minutes into it without a freeze, this is the only thing that bothers me that it won't crash instantly but after something something

btw thx for a quick responses guys  Wink

Make sure your copy of Aliens vs. Predator 2 is UP-TO-DATE

And the installation process went smooth yes?

Try this

- Install AVP2
- Install 1.0.9.6 Update
- Install SP Update
- Install MP Update
- Update or roll back Dedicated GPU 555M Nvidia Drivers.
- Once everything is installed (fresh) use CCLEANER Download @ https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
- Try a LOSER RESOLUTION
- Make sure you have no Compatibility mode set (i don't personally)
- Install AvP2 No CD Crack
- Launch AVP2
- Tell us Results.

Did all of the above, installation successfull, not a single error + a new driver was released today so i DDUed the old one and installed the new, CCleaned my PC completely, tried to play without any compat. changes, after 15 secs, my PC froze...But I tried to switch to Integrated graphics, since its 2001 game and it should be at least decent to watch, textures are 95% fine, I can live with much much worse trust me Cheesy but the main thing is, it hasn't crashed since, played like 5 missions in rambo mode as a Marine, smooth gameplay

So it's definitely my Dedicated GPU it seems, I had a problem with her in the past so, I think I'll just stick to the Intel one,

Thx for the help guys, really this game is awesome and im glad   it's still alive, even just a little bit ... Ill update ass soon as ill get a crash with Integrated graphics but I hope not Smiley
