Alien vision and predator tech vision

I installed my old copy of AvP2, which runs absolutely beautifully, except for one problem. The vision modes that require the 'negative' image style, namely Alien Navigation Vision and Predator Tech vision, do not work, rather displaying a black screen when these vision modes are entered. Curiously, the menu and Mission Information screen (accessed by pressing 'Tab') both work great, and the game continues to function normally, even returning my sight when I exit the particular special vision mode. Predator human and alien tracking modes work like a charm as well.

any ideas how to fix?

HP 6510b laptop
Mobil Intel® 965 Express Chipset Family
2GB Ram
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.80 GHz 1.80 GHz
Windows 7 x64 bit OS

(all drivers should be up to date as far as i know, also AvP got the latest patch)

installed AvP 1 and the alien vision and predator tech vision was working fine, even thought that game is even older...

Hmmm,

I've had this problem my self many years ago, (the way i fixed it was) simply update the graphics drivers.

by the way your GPU is built in yes? maybe try an update and what resloution are you running?

and i assume your talking about the "white vision" yes?

Yea, i do see what you mean.

Right well,

1:

It could be a video card problem i think... im sure it is..  or some type of random glitch with some files located with in your main AVP2 folder. Try reinstalling the game again ? start a (Fresh) download the updates which are in the avp2 master section on this forum.

Thats one option

2:

Seeing as your running windows 7 try right clicking on the avp2 desktop icon and pput it in compatibility Mode (Windows XP)

3:

Try updating your Mobile Intel® 965 Express Chipset?

(I, really do think its graphic card related) in terms of drivers, you need to update them.

Good Luck~

Probably video card related. I'm not sure how to fix it.

Maybe (if you can) Try the oldest driver they have?

And what "Bit" are you using ? 32 or 64 bit os ?

So, a 64-Bit Windows 7? hmmm don't think that can cause this error tho,

(but you never know)

Have you tried searching the older drivers? also what resolution are you using ?

I'm sure I had this problem with the alien a while back. If I remember correctly it was some thing to do with the wall crawl overlay option. I think you can turn it off in the menu.

Sorry it's a bit vague but it was ages ago and I don't have avp installed at the moment. If that doesn't work though like Mr M said it is probably a graphics card problem.

Compatibility mode is a good idea too but I'd maybe try setting it to ME or even Windows 98. It's worth a bash either way.

If all that fails then it could just be that AvP won't run on windows 7. I have the same OS you have on my laptop so if I get the chance I'll try and dig out my avp 2 game disc and see if I get the same problem. That way it should help narrow it down a touch.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit, all my vision modes are fine and the game performs excellently (I use the ATI 5770, it seems that NVIDIA cards cannot run AVP2 properly... boo nshitia!!)
