Good to know, but this is AVP 1 (1999) ?
Yes. This games was released for Windows in 1999.
There were some issues with the native version of AvP on modern Linux distributions. Additionaly, the original version of AvP for Mac OS X (PowerPC) does not work on the last versions of Mac OS X.
This source port of AvP can be compiled on Linux x86, and authors added the option to compile this game on Linux x86_64 and Mac OS X (Intel).

Still nice to see it working but it's now on STEAM!
The original project of AvP for Linux was created by Steven Fuller for Linux users who owned AvP: Gold Edition for Windows.
I heard about a promotion on GOG, and in the last month, many users received their free version of AvP from their online store. I know that game is available on steam, but I think that many people forgot/didn't know about this open source project.

AVP2 can stll work under Linux with the correct settings.
Do you think about Wine?
Personally, I didn't try to run this game on Wine beacuase I prefer to play native games on Mac/Linux.
I know that AvP 2 was published for Mac OS X, but only works on old Macs with PowerPC processors. Unfortunately, I read that the multiplayer mode doesn't work under Rosetta.
I still haven't purchased this version of AvP 2, but I hope that will be working on Mac OS X 10.6.8.
