Nothing I do fixes the framerate. Any ideas?

Installed AVP2. Via the "download", can't find my CDs anymore.
Did the install of the AVP2 patch, the SP update, the NoCD, everything.

I'm on a home-built PC, running Windows 7 SP1, all updated.
Inteil i7-7700 4.2Ghz.
Geforce GTX970.

Widescreen patch.
Even tried the Master Server Patch.

Tried it with and without dgVoodoo.
in dgVoodoo I have the DirectX tab set as follows:
dgVoodoo Virtual 3D Accelerated Card
256MB (tried higher, tried lower)
1280x720 60fps - the max 16x9 resolution that doesn't make menus and UI look like arse. And yes, I have tried higher resolutions up to native 1080.
I've tried FSAA and Filtering, tried it without it.

In GeForce Control panel, I've tried things like changing the Threaded Optimization settings, turning off FSAA and Filltering, toggling Vertical Sync, etc. I set these options as application-specific in the Geforce Control Panel. I see no need to set them Global.

Um... what else...

Oh, I've set the Lithtech exe and all the Lith exes in the AVP2 filter to run as Admin AND run at WinXP SP2 compatibility.

After all that, I managed to get super high FPS at some points, up to 217FPS. That's new.

But most of the time I get FPS drops to 17 FPS, up to 60, back and forth and it sucks ass.

You know that first cutscene where dude walks around in a Power Loader with a crate? Drops to 17FPS. Start the first mission? 19FPS.

I have no idea what to do, and I have tried everything I can think of.

Any ideas left?

Hello

Did you also install MSP 2.4 ? https://avpunknown.com/avp2master

Install that after avp2 is installed (msp 2.4 is not part of the AIO) - As it comes with a console that controls FPS.

Did you try that option?

I installed it, yes. I don't have any idea where that console is though, is it for SP as well as MP?

At this point the state of it is that the game's at 60FPS until the power loader in the first cutscene. Drops to 20FPS. Goes up to 37. Back to 9. Up to 19 when the level finally starts.

This is just nuts, I don't get it. Nothing, not even setting them to WinXP compatibility, is helping.

EDIT: Sweet merciful tapdancing catfish in a motorcycle sidecar, I KINDA FIXED IT.
The damn Widescreen patch may be causing it. OR I needed to disable triple buffering in the AVP2 loader. We'll see. I did both, now to eliminate which one did it.

EDIT 2: It's the damn widescreen patch doing it. Sod that.

EDIT 3: I don't need the Widescreen REZ because i installed the Master Server Patch. Removing it, I was still able to set my screen to 16:9 in the game settings! Hot damn! This fixes it all that I can see!

Yeah i was going to say!

Widescreen patch is no longer needed! as MSP has had a fix for that for a while now.

I highly recommend you join the official avp2 community discord (pretty much everyone is there)
