Overview

Alien 3: The Gun is a 1993 arcade rail shooter from Sega built on the Sega System 32 board. While it borrows the premise of Alien 3, the game sends one or two United States Colonial Marines through a fast-paced gauntlet of xenomorphs and Weyland-Yutani troops.

How it Played

• Mounted rifles: Cabinet guns styled after the M41A Pulse Rifle include recoil and a bomb button for screen-clearing grenades.
• On-rails shooter: The viewpoint moves automatically through corridors and arenas while you aim and fire onscreen.
• Pick-ups: Temporary boosts such as the flamethrower augment your standard fire. A life bar and limited bombs manage risk.
• Boss fights: Set-pieces feature oversized xenomorph forms and a giant facehugger among others.

Stages / Missions

Seven scenes remix locations from the film for arcade pacing:

• Sudden outbreak: Action kicks off aboard the Sulaco.
• Fiorina 161: Foundry floors, prison corridors and tunnels turn into firefights.
• Corporate forces: Weyland-Yutani commandos complicate the bug hunt with crossfire.
• Final showdown: A multi-phase battle closes the campaign.

Cabinet & Controls

• Two fixed guns: Heavy recoil-enabled rifles allow simultaneous co-op.
• Inputs: Trigger to fire and a dedicated bomb button. Reloads occur between sequences.
• Presentation: Scaling sprites and dramatic camera moves heighten the sense of speed and threat.
