Plot
In the late 21st century, archaeologists Elizabeth Shaw and Charlie Holloway discover star maps linking ancient civilizations to a distant system. Funded by the Weyland Corporation, they join the crew of the starship Prometheus on an expedition to LV‑223, hoping to find humanity’s creators—an advanced race known as the Engineers.
On the barren moon, the crew finds vast structures containing black liquid vials and the remains of the Engineers. Contact with the substance mutates crew members, unleashing horrors. Holloway is infected and sacrificed, while the android David secretly experiments with the pathogen, driven by curiosity and Weyland’s hidden agenda.
As the mission unravels, the revived Peter Weyland confronts a surviving Engineer, only to be killed when the alien awakens and prepares to unleash its ship toward Earth. Shaw survives a gruesome emergency surgery to remove an alien organism and fights to stop the Engineer ship from launching. With the sacrifice of captain Janek and his crew, the Juggernaut crashes back to LV‑223.
In the aftermath, Shaw chooses to continue the search for answers with David’s severed but functional head, setting course for the Engineers’ homeworld in pursuit of humanity’s ultimate origins.
