Picking up directly after Alien vs. Predator, a Predator ship crashes near Gunnison, Colorado—loosing a deadly Predalien hybrid and a swarm of Xenomorphs on the town. A veteran Predator, Wolf, arrives to contain the outbreak as civilians fight to survive the crossfire.
After a Predalien bursts from Scar's corpse aboard a departing Yautja ship, it grows rapidly and forces a crash-landing on Earth. The town of Gunnison is overrun as facehuggers spread, while the elite cleaner Predator known as Wolf erases evidence and hunts the hybrid through sewers, hospitals and streets all the way to a final rooftop duel. The military's solution—an airburst tactical nuclear strike—obliterates the town, leaving a mysterious Predator plasma pistol in government hands.
Released on December 25, 2007, the film grossed about $130 million worldwide against a $40 million budget. Critics noted the increased gore but criticized the murky lighting and editing.
Aboard a Predator scout ship leaving Earth, a chestburster with Predator traits—the Predalien—matures, kills the crew and causes the vessel to crash outside Gunnison, Colorado. Survivors and facehuggers scatter. On the Predator homeworld, a veteran hunter receives a distress call and travels to Earth to clean up the infestation, dissolving evidence and stalking the creatures through town. As Xenomorph attacks multiply, civilians attempt to evacuate while the authorities struggle to respond.
The Predalien establishes a hive in the hospital, implanting hosts. On a rooftop, Wolf battles the hybrid; their fight continues into the streets as the U.S. military initiates an airburst nuclear strike, annihilating Gunnison. The blast kills both Wolf and the Predalien along with many townspeople. In the aftermath, a recovered Predator plasma pistol is presented to Ms. Yutani— foreshadowing the corporate future of the franchise.
