On the other hand, AvP2010 does have dedicated servers, so it could presumably be integrated. I don't see any reason why AJL, PH, PT, and other mods couldn't be integrated.

* Okay, let me clarify. I personally believe that there actually must be some form of server usage going on through Steam/GoG for a couple reasons. One, if there weren't and it were strictly P2P, GoG wouldn't have used the game to test their "multiplayer servers" last year, whatever that means. Two, that is the only logical explanation I can find for why GoG's servers are laggy as shit and Steam's are generally lag-free. Three, you can connect directly through the Steam client through the "Join Game" button, which is the same function used to join games with dedicated servers. The only thing I can find to explain these three aspects is that the game is "quasi-P2P" and that there must be some kind of server going on, but I don't think any of us AVPC players have deciphered what's going on. The P2P aspect is clear in that the host always has the lowest lag and people closer to his location get lower ping.

As I said, my knowledge of this is limited but I do know some people (including MPlayer coders) who may know what the deal is with this game. If canon's actually interested, I can ask around. Otherwise I shouldn't waste canon's or anyone else's time if we're just chasing smoke.

Any way I am fascinated.

The AVPC is just P2P....

AVP2010 they use a dedicated server setup
(but doubt steam would give you the info you require)

Better to stick with the 'AVP2Client' let us know when it's ready!

I do not have absolute certainty that it is not possible to run AVP2 teamfotress mod on steam.
i know are two different engines, two different approach to compile, nothing in common.
